Al-Hilal Omdurman secured first place in Group C and advanced to the quarterfinals of the CAF Champions League after edging DR Congo’s Saint-Éloi Lupopo 1–0 at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali in the final round of the group stage.
Minister of Youth and Sports Ahmed Adam Ahmed extended warm congratulations to the club, describing the qualification as a prestigious achievement for Sudanese football. He said the result reflects the players’ commitment and the combined efforts of the technical and administrative staff, and voiced hopes for continued continental progress and for Sudan’s flag to be raised high across Africa.
Al-Hilal took the lead in the 28th minute when defender Ebola fired home a powerful strike following a precise right-flank run and assist from Abdel-Raouf. Lupopo were reduced to ten men just before halftime after former Al-Hilal player George Mendy was sent off.
Despite determined resistance from Lupopo in the second half, Al-Hilal controlled the tempo with discipline and experience. Salih Adil was dismissed in the 74th minute, but defensive substitutions helped preserve the narrow advantage. The victory lifted Al-Hilal to 11 points, confirming their place at the top of the group.
