Governor of the Darfur Region Minni Arko Minnawi met on Saturday in Khartoum with United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy Pekka Haavisto to discuss the situation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and arrangements for delivering examinations to Darfur students living as refugees in Chad.
In a Facebook post, Minnawi said the meeting addressed the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the region and efforts to facilitate the return of displaced citizens to their homes by addressing the root causes of displacement, in addition to seeking the release of abducted civilians.
He added that the discussions also covered mechanisms for delivering examinations to students from the region currently residing in Chad.
