Minister of Energy and Petroleum Engineer Al-Motasem Ibrahim Ahmed discussed with Northern State Minister of Finance and Labor Amir Hassan Al-Bashir and the state’s Minister of Production Othman Ahmed Othman the status of electricity supplies to Northern State and efforts to enhance supply stability, particularly for agricultural projects.
The state delegation said the state government had fulfilled its financial commitments to address issues related to the circuit breakers and switches at Al-Dabba power station, which would help restore and stabilize electricity supplies as far as areas south of Dongola. It affirmed that the state would continue monitoring electricity distribution according to priority sectors.
The meeting also addressed preparations for the winter agricultural season, during which the state is targeting the cultivation of about 1.1 million feddans, as well as its efforts, in coordination with the Federal Ministry of Finance and agricultural authorities, to provide production inputs and follow up on the provision of electricity needs for agricultural projects.
The meeting also discussed support for solar energy projects serving agricultural projects, which have contributed around 22 megawatts to generation capacity, helping stabilize electricity supplies and ease pressure on the national grid.
The Minister of Energy and Petroleum affirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting the agricultural season in Northern State and working to address farmers’ outstanding electricity fees in a manner that takes their circumstances into account and enhances their ability to continue production.
