TSC President: Quartet Cannot Be Considered Blameless if UAE Is Part of It

President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), General Abdel-Fattah Al Burhan, declared that if the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is part of the Quartet, Sudan does not consider it absolved of responsibility, particularly given the UAE’s support for rebels against the Sudanese state.

During a Sunday meeting with senior SAF officers ranked Major General and above—including TSC Member and Assistant Commander-in-Chief General Yassir Al-Atta; TSC Member and Assistant Commander-in-Chief Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jabir; the Chief of Staff and deputies; the Deputy Director General of Police Forces; the Deputy Director of the General Intelligence Service; and a representative of the Joint Forces—Al Burhan asserted that Sudan cannot accept the Quartet as a mediator in the crisis.

He criticized the narrative promoted by Massad Boulos, the U.S. President’s Advisor for Middle East and Africa Affairs, alleging Muslim Brotherhood influence within the army, describing it as a long-circulated UAE narrative and a scare tactic aimed at the Americans, Saudis, and Egyptians. Al-Burhan reaffirmed that these claims are entirely false, asserting the Armed Forces’ ability to reform and restructure independently.

He condemned the “Al Dagalo militia” as a terrorist and rebel group responsible for killing and looting civilians, committing genocide, and conducting ethnic cleansing. He noted that several countries support this militia, calling such support unacceptable to Sudan, and stressed that political groups siding with the militia are equally unacceptable.

“We are not advocates of war, nor do we reject peace. But no one can threaten us or impose conditions upon us,” Al Burhan affirmed. He reiterated confidence in the officers, non-commissioned officers (NCOs), and soldiers of the Armed Forces, describing this confidence as the institution’s main source of strength.

The TSC President stressed that the Armed Forces are determined to retake all territories desecrated by the rebellion in Kordofan and Darfur. “We will expel them from Sudan, and victory will be ours as long as we stand on the side of truth,” he said.

Al Burhan underscored Sudan’s resolve to fight with honour and dignity, without foreign interference. He described the “Battle of Dignity” as a struggle for the survival of all Sudanese, clarifying that the Armed Forces are targeting rebels—not tribes or specific communities. He called on tribal leaders supporting Abdulrahim Dagalo to exercise reason and prevent further loss of young lives, noting that many youths from these tribes have already died in the conflict.
