U.S. Presidential Adviser: Trump Prioritized Peace in Sudan

The U.S. Adviser for African Affairs stated that President Donald Trump made achieving peace in Sudan a priority, noting that the United States condemned the atrocities committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudanese army, and called for accountability for those involved.

He explained that Washington had presented a “strongly formulated” plan, but that the Sudanese army and RSF had rejected it. He expressed hope that the RSF’s unilateral announcement of a ceasefire would hold, and that both parties would adhere to it.

He added that his country is working closely with both conflict parties, emphasizing that statements by the Sudanese army commander are “based on incorrect facts.”
