Dr. Idris: Inclusive Sudanese Dialogue to Set Governance Framework Ahead of Elections

Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris said the Government of Hope is laying the groundwork for an inclusive Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue that excludes no one, describing it as the gateway to consensus on governance ahead of elections.

He said all Sudanese components are invited to take part, including political parties and blocs of all stripes, with the dialogue aimed at producing an agreed governance framework followed by direct elections under international observation.

Speaking at a press conference in Port Sudan after returning from New York, Idris said Sudan has stepped up official and popular diplomacy with neighbouring African states, citing ongoing engagement with Egypt and Saudi Arabia, alongside efforts to open channels with other countries as part of preparations for peace and the national dialogue.

He said concrete steps are already underway, including easing procedures for Sudanese abroad, lifting restrictions affecting them, and reviewing certain reports to create an enabling environment for participation. Further facilitations related to passports and the civil registry, issued under the direction of President of Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), are intended to support the process politically, legally and logistically.

On international monitoring, Idris said Sudan would not accept the deployment of UN forces, citing past experiences, and stressed that any monitoring must be agreed by the Sudanese state and cannot be imposed, reaffirming national sovereignty over the initiative.
