Armed elements of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia killed Omda (Mayor) Ad-Doom Ad-Duwai Yahya, a senior merchant and tribal leader of Al-Tarjam tribe, in an incident believed to be motivated by robbery, triggering widespread tension in the city of Nyala.
The militia later announced that it had arrested the perpetrators, while members of Al-Tarjam tribe shut down the local market in protest over the killing.
In a related development, a delegation from the tribe visited the prison to verify the detention of the suspects, as tensions continued in the area amid threats to maintain the market closure.
