Federal Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim will participate on Thursday in a conference in Washington, D.C., to discuss the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Sudan’s health sector and the restoration of medical services across the country.
During the conference, the minister will highlight the scale of the systematic destruction inflicted on the health sector by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
On the sidelines of the visit, Dr. Ibrahim will hold meetings with humanitarian organizations and agencies supporting the health sector to establish partnerships and strengthen cooperation aimed at improving healthcare services in Sudan.
The minister arrived in Washington on Tuesday and was received by Sudan’s Ambassador to the United States, Mohamed Abdalla Idris, members of the embassy, and Dr. Sarah Issa, a member of the Board of the Sudanese American Physicians Association (SAPA).
The visit comes at the invitation of SAPA, a humanitarian and scientific organization focused on improving healthcare quality and supporting the rehabilitation and development of Sudan’s conflict-affected health system through programs and medical services in several war-affected areas across the country.
