PORT SUDAN (Nabaa Sudan) – Vice President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) Malik Agar on Wednesday met with Egypt’s Ambassador to Sudan, Yasser Abdelrahman Ali Sorour, on the sidelines of the Red Sea Forum on Security and Development (Port Sudan Forum on Security and Development 2026).
The meeting discussed bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest.
Agar stressed the importance of developing cultural relations, not only through official channels such as educational scholarships, but also by launching joint invitations to cultural forums that reflect the deep-rooted historical ties and shared bonds between the peoples of the Nile Valley.
The TSC Vice President expressed Sudan’s appreciation for Egypt’s supportive positions toward Sudan, particularly its commitment to the country’s unity and its refusal to engage with any parallel entities.
Agar also assured the Egyptian ambassador of the safety of Egyptian nationals residing in Sudan and outlined the measures taken to address attempts to incite hatred between the two peoples. He stressed that such attempts would not undermine the enduring and deeply rooted relationship between the two brotherly peoples.
He expressed Sudan’s aspiration to expand trade cooperation, particularly cross-border trade, and to coordinate efforts at border crossings to safeguard and ensure the security of both countries.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides agreed to hold joint cultural forums in Khartoum and Cairo starting in 2027, with the events to be scheduled successively.
