East Sudan Dialogue Initiative: Comprehensive Dialogue Is the Only Solution, With Guarantees for Inclusive Participation

Dialogue Committee Meets East Sudan Delegation

A delegation from the East Sudan Dialogue Council Initiative met on Wednesday with the Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue Preparatory Committee at the committee’s headquarters in Khartoum.

Ibrahim Ismail Jamie, a member of the initiative, said in a press statement that the delegation held a series of meetings with various sectors of the committee, including the Social Sector, headed by Ahmed Jalal Hashem, and the Political Sector, headed by Osman Mirghani.

He affirmed their full support for the national dialogue process under the slogan “Yes to Dialogue,” describing it as the only and most appropriate way to address the country’s accumulated crises and complexities.

The delegation presented its vision for the requirements of the dialogue, stressing the need for all political forces, Native Administration leaders, civil society organizations, and various national entities to sit at one table without preconditions or predetermined agendas, in order to identify national priorities and ensure the protection of the country. It also stressed the need to take into account the repercussions of the April 15 war in order to steer the country to safety.

Jamie added that the delegation received firm assurances from the Preparatory Committee that the dialogue process is based on the principle of excluding no Sudanese party or component.

He also disclosed that positive steps had been taken, including the withdrawal of complaints and legal cases, as well as a commitment to provide the necessary guarantees to ensure the effective participation of all parties in the dialogue.
