The Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue Preparatory Committee met with a delegation from the Initiative for Detainees, Prisoners and Missing Persons to discuss the conditions of detainees and missing persons and the suffering of their families.
Abdullah Bashir Abdullah, a member of the initiative, called for the issue to be made a priority within the social dialogue process, for laws governing wartime situations to be applied, and for the exchange of prisoners and the release of civilian detainees to be initiated through the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
According to the delegation, the committee affirmed its interest in the issue and its readiness to exert efforts to address the cases of detainees and missing persons and support their families.
