A former adviser to Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok, Amjad Farid Al-Tayeb, has accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militias of not only waging military operations since the outbreak of the war but also constructing what he described as a parallel narrative aimed at shaping a false public perception that obscures the group’s nature and conduct.
In a post on the platform “X,” Al-Tayeb said the militia’s allies within the “Sumoud” and “Ta’asis” coalitions promote these narratives and deliberately generate temporal and legal ambiguities that, in his view, enable evasion of criminal and political accountability.
He cited the events in Mustariha following shelling and assassination attempt on Musa Hilal as an example of this pattern. According to Al-Tayeb, a statement denying responsibility was followed the next day by an incursion into the area, which he argued reflects a systematic political denial that cannot be separated from responsibility.
