Governor of the Darfur Region Minni Arko Minnawi conveyed a message filled with pain and sorrow from Darfur civil society organizations to the Quint Mechanism, stressing that the wounds of war victims remain unhealed.
In the message, which Minnawi posted on his Facebook page, the organizations stressed that genuine peace cannot be built upon the ruins of burned villages, the loss of human lives, or by overlooking the suffering of thousands of families that endured atrocities, including mass killings and forced displacement in Al-Fashir, the Zamzam camp and the city of Al-Geneina.
The organizations affirmed that justice and accountability are not merely political demands, but fundamental rights of victims and their families.
They added that redressing the grievances of those affected and respecting their human dignity remain the only path to achieving a just and sustainable peace in Sudan—one that preserves memory, delivers justice for victims and prevents the recurrence of tragedy.
