Major General Siddig Mohamed Abdelrahman Ander, commander of the 15th Group of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and head of the Sudan Liberation Forces Grouping for Reform and Development, has announced his complete defection from the militia and the Tasis Alliance, declaring his allegiance to the Sudanese Armed Forces. He also called on his former comrades to leave the RSF ranks and join the legitimate institutions of the state.
In a statement announcing his defection, Ander revealed that their participation in the war since its outbreak had been based on the belief that they were fighting for a united Sudan with a better future, free from marginalisation, where equality prevailed among all its people, regardless of their tribes, ethnic backgrounds or beliefs, under the rule of law.
He added that they had subsequently come to realise that they were serving a family project belonging to the Dagalo family, controlled by a circle of relatives of RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), through whom financial, military and operational affairs were managed.
Ander also criticised the absence of freedom of expression within the militia, saying that those who oppose the leadership's positions are left with only two options: to remain silent and let it do as it pleases, or speak out and risk being branded an enemy. He noted that anyone who openly speaks the truth or confronts the leadership with it faces expulsion, imprisonment or death under mysterious circumstances.
