Sudan elected

Geneva (Nabaa Sudan) – The General Assembly of the International ‎Civil Defence Organisation (ICDO) has re-elected Sudan by consensus ‎to a new term on the organisation’s Executive Council, extending until ‎‎2030. The decision was taken during the Assembly’s 27th session, held ‎in Geneva on October 29.‎

Sudan’s delegation was headed by its Permanent Representative in ‎Geneva, Ambassador Hassan Hamed Hassan, who called during the ‎General Assembly proceedings for Sudan to be given priority in the ‎organisation’s programmes. He also urged support for efforts to ‎rehabilitate civil defence capabilities and provide firefighting and ‎rescue equipment, in addition to strengthening early warning systems ‎and emergency operations rooms across the states.‎

The Permanent Representative expressed Sudan’s desire to enhance ‎technical cooperation, training and the exchange of expertise in ways ‎that would strengthen the National Civil Defence Council, protect ‎citizens, restore services, and create conditions conducive to safe ‎returns and recovery.‎
