Khartoum, Nabaa Sudan — The Preparatory Committee for the Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue has announced plans to coordinate with international and regional organizations supporting efforts to end the war through dialogue, stressing that recent meetings focused on cooperation and coordination without moving toward the preparation of a joint roadmap.
Mohamed Al-Monir, head of the committee’s office responsible for engagement with regional and international countries and organizations, said a meeting between the Preparatory Committee and the five-member mechanism in Khartoum on Wednesday discussed the role of international and regional organizations, as well as the nature of the role the committee has begun to undertake.
He said the two sides are expected to cooperate on a number of activities, particularly efforts to convince all Sudanese parties of the importance of dialogue.
Speaking to Al-Hiwar Platform, Al-Monir clarified that the meeting did not address the preparation of a roadmap for the dialogue, but focused instead on consultations over the next steps each side intends to take and ways to coordinate efforts during the coming phase. He affirmed that the committee would continue its work following the meeting.
Al-Monir also revealed that the committee has intensified its contacts with civil society organizations, making significant progress in this area, while also beginning outreach to youth organizations.
He added that the committee is preparing to significantly expand its contacts next week with political entities and forces inside and outside Sudan, as part of efforts to broaden the dialogue base and ensure the participation of diverse Sudanese stakeholders.
