Tijani Al-Sisi, Chairman of the National Movement Forces, said that Sudanese dialogue represents the “last opportunity to end the war” and put an end to the suffering of the Sudanese people, calling for an inclusive and transparent dialogue that addresses the roots of the Sudanese crisis since independence.
Speaking to the Dialogue Platform, Al-Sisi explained that the war has reshaped Sudan’s political, security, humanitarian, and social landscape, stressing that overcoming its repercussions requires a Sudanese dialogue that addresses the root causes of the crisis rather than merely its effects.
He noted that the initiative of the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) to promote dialogue inside Sudan, together with the national initiative to create a conducive environment for dialogue, represent necessary steps. He expressed hope that both initiatives would succeed and help bring the war to an end.
Al-Sisi stressed that the dialogue must be transparent and inclusive, with no exclusion, and should involve all stakeholders, including opposition forces, while giving political forces a greater role in the preparatory phase.
He said the ultimate objective of the dialogue should be to pave the way for a foundational transitional period that addresses the root causes of the crisis and lays the groundwork for a transition to civilian democratic rule.
The Chairman of the National Movement Forces called for the dialogue to remain Sudanese-owned and Sudanese-led, with external actors, including the Quintet, limiting their role to support and facilitation.
