The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) said it is seeking to resume its school feeding programme for 450,000 children in nine Sudanese states after the programme was largely suspended due to the conflict.
The WFP said it had received $5 million in funding from the Republic of Korea to provide emergency food assistance to 350,000 people and school meals to 23,000 children. It noted that part of the contribution would be allocated to support selected primary schools in Khartoum State during the 2026/2027 academic year.
The funding will enable the WFP to purchase 3,100 metric tons of cereals for emergency food assistance and school meals.
