Khartoum, (Nabaa Sudan) – Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Lieutenant General Engineer Ibrahim Jabir, chaired on Monday a meeting of the High-Level Committee for Currency Change and Replacement to develop an integrated plan for replacing the Sudanese currency, in the presence of a number of ministers, ministry undersecretaries, the Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan (CBOS), and relevant authorities.
Minister of Culture, Information, Antiquities and Tourism and official spokesperson for the committee, Khalid Al-Eisir, said in a press statement that the meeting crowned a series of intensive meetings held for more than a year and a half since the launch of currency replacement operations in a number of states. During this period, citizens were encouraged to open bank accounts and use banking applications for financial transfers.
Al-Eisir explained that the meeting discussed arrangements for replacing the currency in secure states and how to move forward with the project in a manner that safeguards the national economy and protects the state from infiltrations planned by some regional and international powers and militias. It also discussed gold smuggling, economic regulation, and networking among government institutions as part of efforts to improve institutional performance.
He added that the meeting addressed a number of issues related to the economic sectors, including ensuring the success of the summer agricultural season and preparing for the winter season, improving revenues from livestock exports, as well as banking applications and digital transformation and how to adopt a modern technological approach to protect the state in the collection, expenditure, and electronic payment processes.
The Minister of Culture and Information said the meeting aimed to develop a new plan to move forward with steady steps toward a national economy driven by national will, protecting the state from attempts to undermine the national economy through spreading false reports about its collapse.
Al-Eisir reassured the Sudanese people that the government is working on sound and robust plans to protect the economy and safeguard the interests of the Sudanese nation. He stressed that the Sudanese people understand the scale of the challenges facing the country, ranging from the battlefield to economic and media warfare, and that the current government represents a strong line of defense against all conspiracies targeting Sudan and the Sudanese people.
