Ankara (Nabaa Sudan) – The Embassy of Sudan in Ankara, in cooperation with Turkey’s Hak-İş Confederation of Trade Unions and the General Federation of Sudanese Trade Unions, held a press conference to mark the first anniversary of El-Fasher massacre.
Sudan’s Ambassador to Türkiye, Nader Yousif, said El-Fasher had endured an 18-month siege before falling in October 2025. He noted that the United Nations had documented the killing of more than 6,000 people during the first three days, and called for an end to military support provided to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia by regional backers, particularly the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He also called for an independent international investigation and accountability for those responsible.
At the conclusion of the press conference, the two federations issued a joint statement calling on the United Nations and the Security Council to designate the RSF militia as a terrorist organization and impose sanctions on its leaders and financiers. The statement also stressed the need to hold those responsible for violations accountable, rejected the establishment of any parallel government, and pledged continued solidarity with the Sudanese people until peace and justice are achieved.
