Sudan’s Attorney-General Meets UN Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights

Khartoum, September (SUNA) – Sudanese Attorney-General and Chairperson of the National Committee of Inquiry into Crimes and Violations of National Law and International Humanitarian Law, Intisar Ahmed Abdel-Aal, met with UN Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights Nada Al-Nashif and senior aides.

The Attorney-General reviewed the Committee’s fifth interim report and its work in documenting complaints and conducting investigations into crimes and violations. She also addressed the attack carried out by the militia on the Civil Courts Complex in Om Rawaba and the attack on Karari Locality in Omdurman, which resulted in deaths and injuries.

The meeting also discussed the requirements for the success of Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue, as well as the guarantees and immunities needed to ensure participants’ freedom and prevent interference in its outcomes.

For her part, the Deputy High Commissioner expressed appreciation for the existing cooperation, noting that her office was following the National Committee’s efforts and its reports submitted to the Human Rights Council. She stressed the importance of delivering justice, ensuring redress for victims, and preventing impunity.
