Riyadh, (SPA, Nabaa Sudan) – The General Authority of Civil Aviation announced that Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport were subjected to two attacks targeting their facilities on Tuesday and Wednesday. Emergency teams and relevant authorities immediately responded to the attacks in accordance with approved procedures and plans.
The attack on Abha International Airport resulted in the deaths of two female residents of Moroccan and Algerian nationalities — may they rest in peace — and injuries to 28 citizens and residents, including two residents of Bangladeshi and Filipino nationalities. Their injuries ranged from minor to serious.
The attack on King Khalid International Airport resulted in the death of a Sudanese resident — may he rest in peace — and injuries to eight people, including five citizens, two Egyptian residents, and a Pakistani resident. Their injuries ranged from minor to serious.
All those injured were immediately transferred to hospital to receive the necessary medical care. The two attacks also caused some material damage.
The Authority, in continued coordination and cooperation with the relevant security authorities, is assessing the damage and taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of passengers and personnel and to maintain the security and safety of the Kingdom’s civil aviation system.
