Port Sudan, (SUNA) – Port Sudan’s South Port received the container vessel HANG FENG, operated by Oman’s ASYAD shipping line, marking the line’s first call at the port in a move that reflects growing maritime and commercial activity and strengthens the presence of Sudanese ports in the Red Sea region.
Director-General of the Sea Ports Corporation, Engineer Jailani Mohamed Jailani, affirmed that the vessel’s arrival is the outcome of cooperation between Sudan and the Sultanate of Oman in the field of maritime transport and one of the fruits of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides. He pointed to Port Sudan’s readiness to receive shipping lines.
He explained that Port Sudan represents an important gateway for trade with Africa, in addition to its role in transit and transshipment trade, noting that the arrival of the ASYAD line represents a first step toward expanding maritime connectivity with Africa and the Arab world.
The Director of the South Port pointed out that the vessel’s arrival demonstrates the port’s readiness, expecting the development to help open the way for direct connectivity between East Asia and India and Port Sudan, while enhancing the movement of exports and imports.
Sumarine Company, meanwhile, affirmed that the vessel’s arrival marks the beginning of a series of anticipated voyages to the port.
