GENEVA (Nabaa Sudan) – Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its rejection of the establishment of parallel entities or the adoption of measures outside Sudan’s official institutions, stressing the need to preserve the country’s unity and institutions and to avoid equating the Sudanese government and the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) with militias that have committed crimes against the Sudanese people.
Saudi Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Engineer Waleed Al-Khuraiji said during the sixth consultative meeting in Geneva to coordinate peace initiatives and efforts in Sudan that the Kingdom continues its efforts to secure a ceasefire, protect civilians, and safeguard Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Al-Khuraiji stressed the importance of supporting the Sudanese government in creating the conditions for the launch of intra-Sudanese dialogue inside the country. He reaffirmed the Kingdom’s support for regional and international initiatives aimed at ending the war and restoring stability.
On the humanitarian front, Al-Khuraiji announced that Saudi Arabia would provide $100 million to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people, in addition to launching a public fundraising campaign through the Sahem platform.
He noted that Saudi Arabia’s total assistance to Sudan has exceeded $3.2 billion, in addition to support worth $145 million, as part of efforts to strengthen the humanitarian response to needs across the country.
