Khartoum (Nabaa Sudan) – Sudan's Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Ismat Gurashi, discussed with Abdulhakim Elwaer, Assistant Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Regional Representative for the Near East and North Africa, ways to strengthen cooperation in developing Sudan's agricultural sector, supporting food security and rehabilitating agricultural infrastructure.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of shifting to solar energy to operate irrigation pumps. The two sides agreed to coordinate efforts to conduct technical and economic feasibility studies and identify available funding opportunities, with a particular focus on irrigation projects in Al-Gezira and Sennar states.
