Khartoum (Nabaa Sudan) – Sudan's Minister of Agriculture and ‎Irrigation, Ismat Gurashi, discussed with Abdulhakim Elwaer, Assistant ‎Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the ‎United Nations (FAO) and Regional Representative for the Near East ‎and North Africa, ways to strengthen cooperation in developing ‎Sudan's agricultural sector, supporting food security and rehabilitating ‎agricultural infrastructure.‎

The meeting also discussed the possibility of shifting to solar energy to ‎operate irrigation pumps. The two sides agreed to coordinate efforts ‎to conduct technical and economic feasibility studies and identify ‎available funding opportunities, with a particular focus on irrigation ‎projects in Al-Gezira and Sennar states.‎
