Al-Gezira State Wali Meets Federal Health Delegation, Reaffirms Support for National Vector Control Campaign

Wali of Al-Gezira State, Al-Tahir Ibrahim Al-Khair, met with a delegation from the Federal Ministry of Health headed by Undersecretary Dr. Ali Babiker Sayid Ahmed, reaffirming the state’s support and commitment to ensuring the success of the national vector control campaign targeting malaria and dengue fever.

The Wali reviewed the state’s ongoing efforts to combat disease vectors through spraying campaigns and community-led initiatives, announcing plans to inaugurate four hospitals and to work in coordination with the Gezira Scheme to achieve zero malaria and dengue cases.

For his part, the Health Ministry Undersecretary commended the state’s efforts, confirming that Al-Gezira is currently free of dengue fever cases. He also voiced support for the implementation of the national campaign across several states, alongside efforts to support and rehabilitate a number of hospitals.

Meanwhile, the State Director-General of Health stated that the campaign’s cost is estimated at 600 million Sudanese pounds, with the participation of 15 vehicles. The Governor of the Gezira Scheme affirmed the mobilization of the project’s resources to support vector control programmes.
