The World Health Organization (WHO) Representative in Sudan praised ongoing recovery and rehabilitation efforts at the National Public Health Laboratory, known as STAC, reaffirming the organization’s continued technical and logistical support.
During an inspection visit, the WHO Representative reviewed the damage sustained by the laboratory’s infrastructure and equipment and toured its epidemiological virology, food and water, chemical laboratories, medical entomology sections, as well as the mobile laboratories.
The laboratory’s director explained that, with support from the WHO, the Ministry of Health had successfully rehabilitated the Public Health Laboratory in Red Sea State within three months, strengthening epidemic response capabilities and the training of national personnel.
The WHO Representative reaffirmed support for the restoration and rehabilitation of STAC, enabling it to resume its role as a leading national center for the provision of public health services in Sudan.
