High-Level Sudanese-Moroccan Talks on Judicial Issues in Rabat

Through an active initiative and direct coordination by the Embassy of the Republic of the Sudan to the Kingdom of Morocco, an official round of talks was held at the headquarters of the Moroccan Ministry of Justice in Rabat between Sudan’s Undersecretary of Justice, Ali Khidr, and his Moroccan counterpart, Abdelrahim Miad, on the sidelines of the Sudanese delegation’s participation in the 42nd plenary meeting of the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force, convened in the Moroccan capital.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Mawadda Omar Haj Al-Toum, Consul Dr. Al-Gaili Mohamed Abdel-Hamid, along with directors of several directorates at the Moroccan Ministry of Justice.

The talks reflected the pivotal role played by the Sudanese Embassy in advancing legal diplomacy and opening broader avenues for bilateral cooperation between the judicial institutions of the two brotherly countries.

At the outset of the discussions, Sudan’s Undersecretary of Justice expressed deep appreciation for the swift response from the Moroccan side, commending the strong historical ties and the Kingdom of Morocco’s supportive positions toward Sudan in various regional and international forums.

He also provided a comprehensive briefing on developments in Sudan, outlining the systematic violations committed by the rebel terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia against civilian infrastructure and public facilities. He further underscored the significance of the Sudanese government’s return to carrying out its duties from the capital, Khartoum, describing it as a strategic step reflecting the restoration of state authority and the consolidation of control.

Within the framework of strengthening bilateral partnership, the two sides discussed mechanisms for activating the joint cooperation agreement through the formulation of an executive program focused on training and capacity building, in addition to enhancing coordination on pressing international legal issues, particularly combating irregular migration, human trafficking, money laundering, and terrorism financing.

The talks concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to maintaining consultation and coordination across regional and international organizations in a manner that serves mutual interests and advances the two countries’ aspirations toward reinforcing the rule of law.
