Sudan's Minister of Justice, Dr. Abdullah Dirif, on Thursday met a delegation from the Higher Committee of Representatives of Zamzam Camp Victims, led by its chairman, Hassan Sabir Juma.

Dirif described the violations committed at Zamzam Camp as a humanitarian tragedy marked by systematic abuses of human dignity and fundamental rights. He said the government possesses evidence and documentation of crimes committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and is pursuing accountability through both national and international legal mechanisms.

“We have legal avenues through both the national and international judicial systems,” the minister said, pledging legal support for complaints submitted to the International Criminal Court (ICC), which he said has jurisdiction to prosecute individuals responsible for such crimes.

Juma said the delegation represented thousands of victims who endured some of the gravest violations at Zamzam Camp. He described the events as a humanitarian tragedy and said delivering justice would affirm the rule of law.

He called for those responsible to be brought to justice and urged the organization of human rights training workshops, the provision of volunteer lawyers, and the establishment of official mechanisms to handle the Zamzam Camp case.

Concluding the meeting, Dirif reiterated that there should be no impunity for perpetrators. He also stressed the importance of human rights training and psychological support for victims, and reaffirmed the Ministry of Justice's readiness to provide legal assistance to victims seeking to file private criminal complaints before the National Committee for the Investigation of Crimes and Violations Committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
