Agar Calls for National Unity and Enhanced Media Role to Safeguard Sudan’s Stability

Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Commander Malik Agar, asserted that Sudan is facing profound challenges that require national unity, a resolute collective will, and the full mobilization of capabilities to achieve lasting peace.

Addressing the consultative forum of South Darfur State communities in Port Sudan, Agar underscored the essential role of national media in an age of rapid digital transformation. He affirmed that media institutions have become a central pillar of state security and societal stability.

Agar cautioned against the escalating spread of hate speech, misinformation, and tribal incitement, describing these trends as direct threats to Sudan’s social cohesion. He reaffirmed the authorities’ commitment to cultivating a professional, responsible media environment capable of reinforcing national unity.

The TSC Vice-President stressed the need for broad consensus to unify national ranks, protect the country’s cohesion, channel capacities effectively, and address major national issues within a comprehensive framework aimed at establishing a just and equitable state grounded in the unity of Sudan.

He also highlighted the urgency of implementing transitional justice and advancing community reconciliations amid the deep polarization triggered by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia war. Agar called for a fair and transparent process—including reparations—to resolve disputes and lay the foundation for a more stable future.
