Sudan’s Agriculture and Irrigation Minister Professor Issmat Gurashi said financing provided by the Agricultural Bank of Sudan for the first phase of the 2026 summer agricultural season had reached about 700 billion Sudanese Pounds (SDG), adding that greater focus in the next phase would be placed on rain-fed agriculture to increase production and expand cultivated areas.
Speaking during a meeting at his office in Khartoum with a delegation from the Sudanese Revolutionary Awakening Council led by Sheikh Musa Hilal Abdullah, Gurashi said the war had caused extensive damage to national assets, including a number of agricultural projects, disrupting economic and productive activity.
He said addressing the effects of the war would require rehabilitating the agricultural sector and supporting producers.
