The Governor of Darfur Region, Minni Arko Minnawi, criticized the proposed peace initiatives, describing them as appearing to be calls for stability on the surface, but aiming—according to him—to hand the country over to the Rapid Support Forces and serve as a cover for foreign projects.
Minnawi questioned, in a post on his Facebook account, the timing of these calls following what he described as ethnic cleansing and genocide in El-Fashir, stressing that they could have been prevented at earlier stages.
