Germany’s Representative to the United Nations, Ricklef Boten, said that the situation in the city of El-Fashir has reached the level of “atrocities that cannot be described,” urging all parties to the conflict in Sudan to halt the war and move toward a comprehensive political solution.
In an interview with Al Arabiya TV, Boten underscored the need to hold those responsible for the crimes accountable, noting that addressing the Sudanese crisis requires simultaneous action across three tracks: political talks to end the conflict, urgent humanitarian assistance, and a clear path toward accountability and justice.
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), citing testimonies from survivors, reported that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and its allies are detaining a number of civilians in the Gurni area and the outskirts of El-Fashir, demanding ransom payments in exchange for their release. Armed groups are also preventing detainees from reaching safer areas, including Tawila.
The organization called for the protection of civilians and for ensuring their safe access to areas that offer minimal protection and essential services.
