Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General (Police) Babiker Samra Mustafa, participated on Thursday via video conference in the 43rd session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers.
Addressing the session, the Minister conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, expressing hope for the success of the council’s deliberations and their contribution to strengthening joint Arab security.
He affirmed that the meeting reflects a shared commitment to enhancing and consolidating security cooperation, coordinating efforts, and advancing frameworks for collective action to confront emerging threats and rapid developments in the Middle East, which he described as posing a serious turning point for security, stability, and socio-economic conditions across the Arab region.
The Interior Minister expressed strong condemnation of what he described as unjustified and hostile attacks targeting Arab countries in the Gulf region, reiterating Sudan’s rejection of attacks on civilian objects and critical infrastructure. He stressed full solidarity with the affected states, underscoring that such acts constitute a direct threat to civilian lives and a violation of international law.
He also highlighted the current situation in Sudan, noting the ongoing conflict and the actions of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, which has been conducting systematic and continuous attacks against civilians across multiple regions, while deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure—disrupting essential services and worsening humanitarian conditions.
Despite these challenges, the Minister emphasized that police and other security agencies continue to make significant efforts to combat crime and address security threats. He reaffirmed Sudan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Arab partners and called for a unified condemnation of all terrorist acts carried out by the militia, including attacks on civilians, shelling of urban centers, and looting of property.
In conclusion, the Minister underscored the importance of enhancing security cooperation across all fields, describing it as a necessity dictated by the prevailing regional circumstances. He noted that the plans, reports, and strategies under discussion during the session—particularly the second phase of the Arab Counter-Terrorism Strategy—aim to advance and reinforce joint Arab security action.
