Wali of Khartoum State Ahmed Othman Hamza announced the launch of a project to install modern surveillance cameras at border crossings linking the state with other Sudanese states, as part of a plan to enhance security and facilitate the movement of citizens and goods.
The announcement came during a field visit by the State Security Coordination Committee to the Soba West crossing between Khartoum and Al-Gezira. The visit reviewed security measures and stressed strict adherence to regulations governing vehicle and goods movement.
The Wali said the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and regulate transit operations. He underscored the importance of providing logistical and technical support to personnel to improve monitoring, detect potential threats, and ensure compliance with legal procedures, including vehicle ownership verification.
He also called for tighter oversight of official documents, particularly for individuals in military uniform, and closer monitoring of transported goods to prevent unlawful use.
