Malik Agar Meets Italian Ambassador to Sudan on Completion of His Tenure

Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Malik Agar, met on Friday with the Ambassador of Italy to Sudan, Michele Tommasi, on the occasion of the end of his tenure in the country.

Agar praised Italy’s strong stance toward Sudan, particularly its support for the Government and its non-recognition of any parallel government, as well as its position that Sudan must be represented in any forum discussing its affairs.

He expressed Sudan’s appreciation for its relations with Italy, noting that they had not been affected by tensions despite the inconsistencies in international handling of the Sudanese situation in recent periods.

The Italian Ambassador stated in a press briefing that the meeting discussed developments in the war in Sudan, its humanitarian repercussions, and ways to enhance cooperation in the health and education sectors, which have been particularly affected by the conflict.

He affirmed that throughout the war, Italy has remained firmly committed to maintaining its development cooperation and engagement with Sudanese institutions and authorities, expressing confidence in the Sudanese people’s ability to achieve lasting peace.

The Ambassador also expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Sudan for the support and cooperation he received, which facilitated the conduct of his duties during his tenure.
