Khartoum (Nabaa Sudan) – Mayada Siwar Al-Dahab, head of the Democratic Unionist Liberal Party and the National Founding Platform Initiative, said that Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue represents an opportunity to end political divisions and pave the way for free and fair elections. She announced that she had presented a roadmap for the dialogue initiative.
Speaking to the press after meeting with the Preparatory Committee for Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue at its headquarters in Khartoum, Mayada said that the call for a purely national dialogue led from within Sudan presents an opportunity to put the national process back on the right track. She stressed that solutions must emerge from the will of the Sudanese people, with the country’s interests placed above narrow considerations.
She explained that the initiative proposes a gradual path towards stability, beginning with creating a conducive political environment and listening to diverse perspectives and proposals. This would be followed by broadening discussions to include political and community forces, culminating in a comprehensive consultative conference to establish the main foundations and principles of the dialogue.
Mayada underscored the importance of launching the dialogue from the grassroots, local communities and local elites, while strengthening integration between political and community forces within a unified negotiating process. She also highlighted the role of regional and international communities in supporting and facilitating the process, while respecting Sudan’s sovereignty and national ownership of the initiative.
Mayada noted that the Preparatory Committee for Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue had received the proposals positively. She added that efforts were underway to accelerate the process and agree on an inclusive institutional framework that would ensure everyone’s participation in efforts to end the war and achieve lasting peace.
