President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, received a message from African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, delivered by AU Envoy Mohamed Belaïche. The meeting, attended by Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Muawia Osman Khalid, focused on advancing national, regional, and international efforts to secure Sudan’s stability.
Belaïche reaffirmed the AU’s firm support for Sudan’s sovereignty and unity, warning that “there is no room for any parallel institution on Sudanese soil.” He urged a peaceful political settlement through inclusive national dialogue under the “Quintet Mechanism” of the AU, IGAD, UN, League of Arab States, and EU.
The envoy condemned RSF attacks on civilians and destruction of infrastructure, stressing that perpetrators will face accountability.
He added that the African Union places the highest priority on advancing dialogue among Sudanese stakeholders and mobilizing resources to alleviate humanitarian suffering, saying, “Together with our partners, we are working to bring peace to a single, unified Sudan.” He expressed hope that the coming year would usher in peace, prosperity, and well-being for the Sudanese people.
