New York, (Nabaa Sudan) – Adviser to President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) for Political Affairs and Foreign Relations Amjad Farid said the U.S. proposal for a 90-day ceasefire in Sudan raises concerns about the country’s future, noting that the approach could lead to a de facto partition similar to Libya, according to Reuters.
Farid said the government had submitted amendments to the proposal, including the withdrawal of Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia from urban areas under international supervision, adding that the United States had not taken those amendments into consideration.
The U.S. proposal, presented by U.S. Adviser for Arab and African Affairs Massad Boulos, calls for a 90-day ceasefire, followed by negotiations to end the war and resume the process toward civilian rule.
