The United Nations Security Council expressed grave concern over the Rapid Support Forces' (RSF) military buildup around Al-Obeid, warning that it poses a risk of mass atrocities, and called on the force to immediately halt its offensive on the city.
The Council stressed the need to protect civilians and comply with international law, international humanitarian law, and the Jeddah Declaration, while calling for investigations into all violations and accountability for those responsible.
It also voiced concern over RSF drone attacks on Al-Obeid and the increasing use of drones across Sudan.
