Weather Authority Issues Red Alert Over Severe Heatwave in Northern Sudan

The General Authority of Meteorology issued a red-level warning over an expected severe heatwave affecting River Nile State, Northern State, and western parts of Red Sea State.

The heatwave is forecast to begin on Monday, May 18, 2026, and continue until Wednesday evening, May 20.

The authority warned of a significant rise in temperatures that could lead to heat stress, dehydration, and sunstroke. It urged citizens to avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours and increase water intake.
