Sudanese Authorities Identify 10 Currency Traders Carrying Out Political Agenda for Hostile State

Security sources have revealed that Sudanese authorities have identified 10 currency traders who are carrying out a political agenda directed by a state hostile to Sudan through misleading media campaigns concerning the depreciation of the Sudanese pound against the US dollar.

The sources said the expected measures include deterrent action against unlicensed currency traders, “warraqeen” (informal currency brokers), and owners of fictitious accounts and companies.

The sources confirmed that the Central Bank of Sudan (CBOS) has sufficient foreign exchange reserves to help stabilize the foreign exchange market, alongside ongoing efforts to attract foreign investment and secure loans.

The Central Bank of Sudan had issued a statement affirming that it would continue providing foreign currency through the banking system and responding to banks’ requests to finance the needs of their importing customers. It clarified that Circular No. (16/2026) does not mean that the Central Bank has withdrawn from the foreign exchange market or halted its foreign currency injection operations.
