Dozens of Sudanese migrants and asylum seekers were killed on Friday after a boat carrying around 40 people sank off the coast of Tobruk, eastern Libya.
According to Al Jazeera Human Rights Observatory, the boat was carrying entire Sudanese families, including a large number of women and children. Several infants were among those on board, some only a few months old.
The victims were from several Sudanese states and cities that have recently witnessed direct fighting or severe humanitarian deterioration.
