Khartoum, (Nabaa Sudan) – President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, attended on Saturday, a ceremony organized by the Sudan Council of Churches at the Khartoum International Fairgrounds under the theme, “Come with One Heart… Together We Pray for Sudan,” in the presence of his deputy, Malik Agar, and with wide participation by fathers, church leaders, and representatives of various Christian denominations and churches in Sudan.
Addressing the event, the TSC President said that all revealed religions call for love, peace, and brotherhood, the rejection of division and fragmentation, and the promotion of virtue. He stressed the importance of cooperation and solidarity and of standing against anyone who calls for spreading hatred and animosity among the Sudanese people or undermining security.
He affirmed that the ceremony embodied the fact that Sudan is one country and one people behind one army, expressing hope that security, stability, and peace would prevail throughout the country.
He explained that praying for peace is a noble value needed to promote a spirit of love and reassurance, adding: “All religions call for love and peace.”
The TSC President commended clergy and priests from all denominations, praising their sincere and genuine prayers for God to protect Sudan and its people.
For his part, TSC Vice-President Malik Agar underscored the importance of the event in embodying the values of national unity, noting the participation of various Christian denominations in organizing the prayer. He stressed that peace is a fundamental human and religious value shared by different faiths.
Meanwhile, the President of the Sudan Council of Churches called on those present to stand in silence in mourning for the souls of those who lost their lives, recalling the sacrifices of those who, he said, made it possible for Sudanese people to gather once again in the capital, Khartoum.
He also thanked the Sudanese government and the TSC President for their efforts in managing the affairs of the country and working to restore security and stability. He further appealed to those outside the country to return to Sudan and reject division and fragmentation.
The event featured prayers and supplications for peace, security, and stability across Sudan, an end to the suffering of the Sudanese people, and the country’s recovery from the effects of the war, as well as prayers for Sudan’s unity and social cohesion.
During the prayers, church fathers expressed their support for the Sudanese government’s efforts to manage the country’s affairs and restore stability. They prayed for God to grant the country’s leadership the strength, will, and wisdom needed to lead Sudan toward peace, security, and stability.
