New York, (Nabaa Sudan) – Chairperson of the African Union (AU) ‎Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, warned of the growing regional ‎repercussions of the war in Sudan and the burdens it is placing on ‎neighboring countries hosting millions of refugees.‎

Speaking at the first coordination meeting between the “Quintet” and ‎‎“Quartet” groups in New York, Youssouf called for an immediate ‎humanitarian truce and an end to hostilities as a step toward a ‎permanent ceasefire, while ensuring an inclusive Sudanese dialogue.‎

He also called for an end to external military support fueling the ‎conflict, stressing the need to pursue humanitarian, security, and ‎political tracks in parallel, in a manner that reinforces each track.‎

According to the African Union, the meeting called for stronger ‎operational coordination between the “Quartet” and “Quintet” ‎groups and the development of a joint roadmap linking humanitarian ‎action, the cessation of hostilities, and civilian dialogue.‎
