Khartoum, (Nabaa Sudan) – Chairman of the Turkish-Sudanese Economic Business Council, Ahmed Al-Damrji, said trade between Sudan and Türkiye fell to about $390 million in 2025, down from its peak of approximately $680 million in 2022, according to Sudan Tribune.
Al-Damrji said a strategic plan aims to increase bilateral trade to $2 billion in the coming period, while expanding trade and investment cooperation and opening new channels for Sudanese exports.
He said the main impediments facing Sudanese exports include high transportation and energy costs, as well as multiple local and state-level fees, which weaken the competitiveness of Sudanese products in global markets.
The Chairman of the Turkish-Sudanese Economic Business Council explained that a delegation of Sudanese businesspersons participated in the Private Sector Recovery Dialogue to discuss challenges facing the agricultural sector and exports and ways to reintegrate national products into global markets.
Al-Damrji proposed drawing on Türkiye’s logistics experience by making Türkiye a hub for marketing and distributing Sudanese strategic commodities and crops to global markets, particularly African markets, while retaining Sudanese origin for the products.
He added that Turkish companies’ investments in Sudan are estimated at $300 million, while Turkish contracting companies have implemented more than 90 projects in Sudan with a total value of approximately $3 billion.
