New York (Nabaa Sudan) – Sudan has reaffirmed its commitment to peace as a strategic choice for ending the war, stressing that any humanitarian truce must be conditional on the withdrawal of the militia from public facilities and citizens’ homes, the removal of foreign mercenaries, and an end to the flow of weapons and funding to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
The national statement, delivered by Sudan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Al-Harith Idris Al-Harith, before the UN Security Council, explained that these arrangements are intended to protect civilians and prevent the militia from exploiting the truce to rearm. These measures would pave the way for a permanent ceasefire and a comprehensive peace that preserves Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.”
Sudan called for measures against entities supplying the militia with weapons, money, and mercenaries, as well as the dismantling of war-trafficking networks. It also stressed the importance of preserving state institutions and supporting democratic transition through an inclusive national dialogue, while ensuring the existence of a single national army.
