Khartoum (Nabaa Sudan) — Osman Mirghani, official spokesperson for the Preparatory Committee for Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue, said the committee held a cordial meeting with Egypt’s ambassador to Sudan and his deputy to discuss opportunities for consultation and joint cooperation in support of the dialogue process.
Mirghani said Egypt could play an important role in ensuring the success of the dialogue, given that it hosts large numbers of Sudanese affected by the war, as well as political groups based in Cairo. He noted that the participation of these groups could contribute to the Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue.
He added that the Egyptian ambassador had offered advice on mechanisms for engaging with external parties. Mirghani expressed hope that the meeting would mark the beginning of cooperation between the committee and Cairo, and that Egypt would play a prominent role in preparing the ground for dialogue and restoring stability.
Mirghani stressed that Sudan’s stability was one of the most important foundations of relations between the two countries, adding that political stability in Sudan would support stability in Egypt and across the Arab and African regions.
He noted that Egypt’s call for Sudanese dialogue was not new, citing the conference hosted by Cairo in July 2024, which brought together Sudanese political and community groups.
