Secretary-General of the General Nuba Union Buthaina Khalifa Gouda said the Union was established to promote nation-building, stressing that Sudan must restore its national unity.

Speaking at SUNA's 58th media forum, she said the Union seeks to unite Sudanese in support of the country's security, stability, and social harmony.

She said the Union, a registered civil society organization, has launched the Nuba Dialogue and the Nuba-State Dialogue, emphasizing dialogue as its preferred approach while consistently condemning the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) violations.

Buthaina said more than four decades of conflict in the Nuba Mountains have reinforced the need to end armed confrontation and preserve social cohesion. She added that the latest war severely affected Dilling and Kadugli, where forces loyal to Abdelaziz Al-Hilu and the RSF displaced civilians and deprived them of basic rights.

She praised the media's role in the Battle of Dignity and paid tribute to the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and supporting forces for their role in the existential battle.
